A Little Intro
Mrs. Tara Chaudhri is a self taught artist who has been painting for over 40 years. She was first acknowledged as an artist by Lalit Kala Academy of India, Hyderabad way back in 1972. It was later in April’ 1973 when she was first invited to show her paintings along with the other artist of fame in hydrabad. She also held a few exhibitions in places like Ranchi, Patna, and Meerut. In 1989 she held her exhibition in the United Kingdom where her work was highly appreciated. One of her painting from this exhibition now finds a place in a private collection at Billsdale, Yorkshire. In 1993 Tara held her exhibition at the Chitari Academy of Finearts, Pune and her entry was selected for final ‘exhibition at Rabindra Kala Acedamy of Fine Arts ,Pune.
Tara then moved to Culcutta in 1993, She was deeply inspired by the rich art and cultural heritage of Bengal, Which found fresh expression in her new paintings which were later exhibited at Culcutta in Oct’s 1995. In 1996 she was invited to participate & show her paintings at the All India Lalit Kala Academy Art Mela at Victoria Memorial, at Calcutta. She held yet another exhibition in the city of joy organised by Rotary club of Culcutta and sponsored by The Goodricke Group in 1997.
Later Tara moved to Delhi, where she was invited by “Art Today” to participate in the ‘Summer Group Show’ during 1999.
Tara remained very busy with her other social commitments and was not able to exhibit her work for over ten years .She was back on art scene when she held her recent exhibition in Chandigarh in October, 2012.
Tara now resides at Chimbalhaar a small village on the the outskirts of a heavenly place called Palampur in Himachal Pardesh. She lives in a beautiful stone cottage ,and has a large garden bordered by a beautiful brook which is locally called ”kool”. She has her studio and gallery on the first floor over looking the beautiful ranges of Dhauladhar on one side while on the other side is breath taking view of Kangra valley .
She besides being a distinguished artist has also got many other interest to keep herself fully occupied. She is a REIKI GRAND master and an independent reiki teacher. She is a beauty therapist and consultant. She took her diploma in beauty care from London in 1972. She has also taken a diploma in pottery and glassware from Jadavpur University of Calcutta. Besides she is an expert cook and wonderful home maker.
